Different ways of plant growth and farming
To understand better the differences between the various ways of growth and cultivation of plants, we have prepared and explained four ways of cultivation that can be found in the market, along with their brief descriptions explained in order from less adequate:
Conventional farming
Biological farming
Wild or selfgrown
Bio/Eco certificated selfgrowth
CONVENTIONAL FARMING
Conventional farming is the way of farming where on the land only one species with the use of fertilizers and pesticides and herbicides is cultivated. This is the most risky farming because some farmers do not respect the time of the withdrawal period (the time between the spraying and picking) and the plants themselves and in themselves contain a dangerous insecticide.
Plants and products resulting from such cultivation are lower in prices, but very poor in quality. Often they can be harmful to health.
BIOLOGICAL FARMING
As well as conventional this is mainly a monoculture cultivation, but no insecticides and fertilizers used. Special Commission tests the quality of the products, and the very plantations must not be placed near the polluters and manufacturers that are using fertilizers, insecticides and herbicides. The product then obtaines certificates, such as Ekocert, BIO and AB.
Plants and products resulting from such cultivation are safe to use because there is no danger of hazardous insecticides, but still such plants can not achieve the full therapeutic potential because of the lack of ecosystems from their natural habitats.
WILD OR SELFGROWN
This is the best way for plants to grow because they fully adapt to their environment and produce precisely the substances that are necessary for the functioning of the ecosystem. Essential oils extracted from such plants are of exceptional quality, especially if they come from pure nature or habitat placed away from pollutants and major cities.
The products from such plants will clearly have indicated on the label that the product was originated from wild plants and wild growth, but still we can not be 100% sure of the origin of such products due to lack of control of such products.
CERTIFICATED ECO / BIO SELFGROWTH
As the name suggests, it’s the best type of plant growth same as the previous example, with the difference that the area where the plant grows is under the constant supervision of an independent control body. As a sure sign of plants origin and cultivation method are issued valid eco-certificates.
For this reason, these are the safest and the best products that have the full therapeutic potential.
